There is a small worn spot on the signature wrap that could use a dap of varnish at some point

The reel seat is flatted cork and the superbly crafted nickel silver ring has a small rounded straight knurl

The ebonite is free of cracks and the german silver rims are free of dings

Includes thick neoprene case

John R. Gow and Sons Walnut and Brass Salmon Winch 8 Weight Medium parabolic actionAn interesting John R. Gow and Sons walnut and brass salmon winch, 4 3 8" in diameter with a 1 5 8" spool width. Likely dates to the 1880's. Walnut frame with brass pillars and a brass spool, the latter of which has "JR Gow" and "Dunkel" on the top and "Patent" at the bottom in a neat engraved script. The brass foot looks as though it has been shortened. The clicker drag works well and favors RHW slightly. An interesting early trolling reel!
