I painted this one at the same time I painted "Arizona Sunset Saguaros"

The shape and orientation of the Kansas map lent itself perfectly to a landscape painting

painted it and then added the gold raised spiral to the center of the Zia

but these two turned out great and have been favorites ever since

Lauderdale so I'm fortunate to be able to see it again when we visit them

Texas Flag Map (photo print) leaves I painted this one atThe original version of Texas Flag Map was painted on a road map of Texas. Like my Colorado Flag, I didn't want to paint the flag like the original image, but wanted it to have more energy and movement. I traced out the design in pencil over the map then painted all the colors at the same time using a wet on wet technique that allowed the colors to mix and blend. I also sprayed the wet paints at the edges with a mister bottle and tilted the piece back
